NYC Industry Reading – Spectacular!

Cast_Photo_TSFSVictor Kazan and I were thrilled with the industry readings of the show held on September 25 at Pearl Studios in midtown here in New York.  Our cast were exemplary (see images and details below) as were the 7-piece band so ably directed from the piano by our Musical Director, Matt Castle.

Ultimately any theatrical production relies on the talent and expertise of the stage director.  In this case, we were delighted that Martin Platt agreed to take on this responsbility, with additional support from David Elliott from Perry Street Theatricals as our general managers.

These industry reading presentations would not really have been possible at this time of the year for us unless we had prior been invited to take part in the 2nd Annual Florida Festival of New Musicals in Orlando (FL) which immediately preceded the New York presentations.  To Roy and Heather at the Winter Park Playhouse, we will be eternally indebted.

So who comprised this incredbile AEA cast put together by the wonderful team at Stephanie Klapper Casting?

Thank you Winter Park Playhouse Orlando (FL)

Purcell_Kazan.jpgWe are nearly at the end of the 2nd. Florida Festival of New Musicals.  Over the last three days, a very responsive and diverse audience have seen wonderful shows in all different styles as part of this annual event at the Winter Park Playhouse in Orlando.

Incredibly impressed with the curation and organizational set-up of this initiative, to say nothing of the singer-actor talent on-stage being wholly impressive across the gamut of the six musicals being presented.

To the audience who came to Victor’s and my Flamenco-inspired musical, thank you too.  We so enjoyed answering your (often unnervingly) insightful questions about The Stranger from Seville in post-show Q&As as well as your best wishes for the ongoing development and success of the show.

To our cast: Zach Nadolski*, Ashley Rodrigues, Brandon Martin*, Dave Thome*, Todd Allen Long, Amy Casey*, Dustin Cunningham, Tommy Paduano, Gabriella Saramago, Kelly Wells* and Christopher Norton* – you  are very special to us.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

It is with much pleasure we announce that the staged reading of The Stranger from Seville will take place on 25 September in mid-town, New York City, directed by Martin Platt with musical direction from Matt Castle.

More details soon.

New Songs with Videos!

Kevin PurcellSo, as promised, we have completed new song demos and videos for the upcoming presentation as part of the Florida Festival of New Musicals at the Winter Park Playhouse (Aug. 23-26).  You can check them out here.

The first is called ‘Who I Am’ which is a new song for the character of Sofia at the top of Act II.  The charming vocalist on this version is the Australian actor, Kate Yaxley. We were so impressed with Kate’s vitality and conviction to the lyrics of this song as is abundently clear in the video footage.

The second demo is a song for the character of Diego Clemente, and is the opening song in the show.  In this version, ‘All I Could Ask For’ is sung by the very talented Brent Trotter.

We hope you enjoy these two latest additions to our catalogue of songs from The Stranger from Seville.

More news about the New York workshop of the musical in September coming very soon!
